Whoo ah!! Nothing quite beats a fresh cappuccino in the morning and you don’t need to go to a coffee shop get it either, it can be made at home in 3 easy steps.

Now you can go out and buy yourself a fancy cappuccino machine, though it’s not a necessity. You can make an excellent cappuccino with a few simple items.

First on the List –

To start, you will require a stovetop brewer or coffee percolator. This paramount when making traditional Italian coffee.

To start remove the pump tube and basket, fill with the desired water level. Now add the desired amount of coffee grounds, but first wet the filter basket, this will prevent grind in your coffee. Replace tube, filter, and lid. Then place the percolator on the stove over medium-high heat. When the water heats to a boil steam pressure will force water through the filter. Once a boil has been achieved let coffee continue to “perk” for 4-5 minutes, remove from heat and pour.

Second –

The milk.

For best results, warm milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until nearly boiling or 150 degrees, remove from heat. It’s customary to preheat your cup before pouring your cappuccino. To do this boil water and let it sit in your cup for a few minutes. Now pour coffee into your cup, followed by milk in roughly 1:5 ratio, leaving enough room for froth.

Third –

Froth.

While there are many variations of froth makers available, from handheld plungers to battery-operated units, with some elbow grease if can also be made manually with a whisk is need be. See our article froth article for more details. Get frothy! Frothing for rookies

Spoon froth onto the top of cappuccino and dust with chocolate. Thats it!

Final Step –

Always wash & clean your percolator after use with a non-abrasive scourer to remove coffee residue.
